Under the umbrella of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus and Planetary Health, the Germen Environmental Foundation (DBU) is currently funding different projects that focus on human-ecosystem interactions and their consequences for the sustainable provision of ecosystem services, but also on consequences for human health.
As part of the Nexus, the Landespflege Freiburg currently is implementing the project "Structured decision-making processes to improve the ecological situation of water bodies in agricultural landscape". The project is a joint venture with the “Programme for the restoration of lakes and ponds in the Alpine Fore Hills of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany”. A DBU symposium is now intended to identify linkages of the elements of the water-energy-food nexus and the immanent associations with issues of planetary health. The symposium aims on the identification of current tasks and new options for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation. Based on this, the essential requirements for action will be formulated, that will be crucial for an efficient cross-sectoral social transformation in view of the global crises.
The conference is aimed at institutions and organisations working in the field of applied transformation research as well as consultancies, NGOs, public authorities and administrations and, last but not least, an interested public. Further information please find at
